Naval Architect / Yacht Designer

  • Location: Cascais, Portugal, or UK head office (Hamble)

  • Contract: Full-time, starting as soon as possible

MarMarine Lda is seeking an experienced Naval Architect with a yacht design background to join its team in Cascais, Portugal. The position may alternatively be based at the UK head office of Tony Castro Ltd.

The successful candidate will develop nautical projects for shipyards, builders and Tony Castro Ltd, a yacht design company with 45 years in business and projects worldwide. Its portfolio includes pleasure yachts as well as commercial and military vessels, such as rescue lifeboats and fast interceptors, in both monohull and catamaran configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Design of yachts and other vessels

  • Stability calculations to ISO or Class standards

  • Performance analysis

  • Propulsion and mechanical systems

  • Research and development

Essential requirements

  • Legal right to work in Portugal or the UK, through citizenship or an existing valid visa or work permit. Visa sponsorship cannot be offered.

  • Fluency in Portuguese and English

  • Proven experience in the design of yachts or comparable vessels, with a strong technical background

  • Advanced proficiency in Rhino 3D, including Class-A surfacing

  • Proficiency in Orca3D or equivalent stability software

Desirable qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Naval Architecture or a related discipline

  • Experience in structural design
